Borussia Dortmund Sacks Coach Following Loss to Bologna

Borussia Dortmund has officially dismissed its coach, Nuri Sahin, due to poor results.

The club announced on its official website on Wednesday that it had parted ways with Nuri Sahin following the disappointing loss to Italy’s Bologna in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Lars Ricken, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, stated: "We highly value Nuri Sahin and his work. We had hoped for a long-term collaboration and, until the end, believed we could achieve a sporting turnaround together. However, after four consecutive defeats, just one win in the last nine matches, and currently sitting in 10th place in the Bundesliga standings, we have unfortunately lost confidence in our ability to meet our sporting goals with the current setup."

For his part, Nuri Sahin said: "Unfortunately, we were unable to live up to Borussia Dortmund’s sporting ambitions this season. I wish this special club all the best."

The club also revealed that it will announce further details regarding the team's coach for Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen in due course.
