Saudi Side Al-Ahli Open Talks to Sign Messi

Saudi club Al-Ahli has entered into negotiations to sign Argentine superstar Lionel Messi as a free agent, according to a report by French newspaper L'Équipe.

The report claims that Al-Ahli is looking to secure Messi’s signature once his contract with Inter Miami expires in December. Interest from Saudi clubs in the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner is no secret; strong attempts were already made to sign him in the summer of 2023 following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

L'Équipe added that although financial terms have not yet been disclosed, Saudi Arabia—set to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup—is reportedly determined to pursue the iconic forward and complete what would be a monumental signing.

The report also noted that Al-Ahli, fresh off their AFC Champions League triumph, has been working behind the scenes for weeks to convince Messi to make the move. Meanwhile, Inter Miami is also keen to extend his stay after two seasons in Major League Soccer.
