Manchester United have confirmed that their new signing, Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, who arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the current summer transfer window, will wear the iconic No.10 shirt starting from the 2025–26 season.
United officially announced the signing of Cunha last June in a deal worth £62.5 million, to be paid in three installments over the coming years. The striker has signed a five-year contract with an option for an additional season, earning a weekly wage estimated at £200,000.
Trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that United handing Cunha the No.10 shirt is a clear signal that Marcus Rashford is not expected to continue with the club in the near future.
Rashford was loaned out to Aston Villa in January.
Cunha, 26, was one of the standout strikers in the Premier League last season, scoring 15 goals in 33 appearances for Wolves. He previously played in Germany, Spain, and Switzerland, amassing 270 club appearances and 72 goals, along with 13 international caps for Brazil’s senior national team.
This marks United’s first signing under new head coach RĂºben Amorim, who emphasized the need to bolster the attack early in the window following a tough season in which the team scored only 44 league goals.
