WhatsApp Plans to Allow Sharing of Status Updates on Instagram and Facebook

Meta has announced plans to integrate WhatsApp into its Accounts Center, a new feature that will allow users to share their status updates on Instagram and Facebook, as well as provide the option for unified login across apps.

This feature is set to be launched globally in the coming months and will not be activated automatically, giving users the freedom to choose whether to link their WhatsApp account to the Accounts Center.

According to the help page published by Meta about this change, linking the account will allow Meta to use WhatsApp data to provide personalized services and products, as well as enhance advertising.

The new options include the ability to share status updates directly on Facebook or Instagram with custom buttons. The company confirmed that personal data in WhatsApp will not be used across other Meta apps, except in cases such as improving security or offering optional features that work across its different apps.

Meta also pointed out that linking accounts will not affect the end-to-end encryption feature in WhatsApp, which is one of the key security advantages of the app.

In the long term, the company plans to add the ability to manage creative features, such as AI-generated stickers and avatar images that can be created using the "Imagine Me" feature through the Accounts Center.
