Tottenham Manager: We Need to Sign Players

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, who is under pressure to strengthen his squad in the remaining days of the transfer window, spoke after his team suffered a 1-2 defeat at home to Leicester City, continuing their poor form in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Striker Richarlison, who had put Tottenham ahead with a header in the first half, was forced off due to a thigh injury, while Postecoglou mentioned that other players were also unavailable for the starting lineup.

Postecoglou said in a press conference: "I've always said that the players need help, and I also said that the club is working hard in this area to try to alleviate some of these issues."

He added: "Boubacar Sarr wasn't supposed to play today, and it's clear he wasn't fit, and there may be at least two other players who weren't supposed to be involved in the match. They were desperate to try to change our fortunes, and we hope to get some important players back in the next ten days or two weeks, which I believe will help this group a lot and give them the boost they need."

Fans loudly chanted against club chairman Daniel Levy, blaming him for failing to invest in the first-team squad, but Postecoglou is aware that, despite some mitigating circumstances, he will ultimately be judged on results.

In response to a question about whether he would remain in his role to reap the benefits of the return of injured players, the Australian coach said: "Who knows? I'm sure many players would say no. As a manager, you sometimes feel incredibly isolated, but I don't think so because the players are still giving their best for this club, and I have a fantastic staff doing the same."

He continued: "Clearly, things haven't gone our way, and it's understandable that the fans are unhappy with our current situation. It's a tough situation because we need them now, especially at home to create the right atmosphere. I've been here long enough to know that some will judge us based on where we are right now, and that's true in some respects. It's not good enough, and if people want to put that in context, they can. If they don't, that's fine too."
