Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Tottenham, insisted that he remains unaffected by the "constant comments" regarding his future and still believes his team can have a "special" season, despite growing frustration among fans due to the team's decline in the English Premier League.
Tottenham has dropped to 15th place in the Premier League, winning only one of their last 11 matches in the competition.
The team is looking to secure direct qualification to the Round of 16 in the Europa League on Thursday by defeating Swedish side Elfsborg. They have also reached the semifinals of the English League Cup, holding a 1-0 lead over Liverpool after the first leg.
For this reason, Postecoglou stated that there is still room for optimism despite the current difficult situation.
Commenting on the increasing uncertainty about his position, Postecoglou said: "This does not affect me, and it never will. My perspective on my role has never been about self-preservation or security; it has always been about trying to achieve something, and I am still in a position to do so."
He added, in remarks reported by the **BBC**: "You suggest that there are ongoing comments about me, which is unsurprising given our position in the league. I don’t have to respond to that or engage with it, and it neither concerns nor affects me. People can choose to ignore it, but we are in a great position to achieve something truly special this year."
When asked if he had a message for the fans, Postecoglou said he wanted to speak to all supporters, not just the frustrated ones, emphasizing that he is working hard to turn the season around.
He continued: "Obviously, we are aware of the situation. However, the opportunities and possibilities in the second half of the season are still in our hands, and we can take advantage of them to make it a successful season."
In a boost to his injury-hit squad, Postecoglou revealed that key center-back Micky van de Ven could return against Elfsborg after being sidelined for nearly two months with a hamstring injury.
