Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning champions of the German Bundesliga, announced on Wednesday the signing of attacking midfielder Emiliano BuendÃa from Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.
The Argentine international has made 12 Premier League appearances as a substitute for Villa this season, after being sidelined for nearly a year due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in August 2023, which required surgery.
The 28-year-old has also played for Getafe and won the English Championship twice with Norwich City.
In a statement, BuendÃa said: "The Bundesliga is very attractive to me, and Bayer Leverkusen is the reigning champion. In my opinion, it is one of the best and most exciting teams in Europe. It’s a great team that plays attractive football."
Leverkusen, currently eighth in the Champions League standings, aims to secure direct qualification to the Round of 16 when they host Sparta Prague later on Wednesday.
