Norwegian international striker Erling Haaland has signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with his team, Manchester City, according to an announcement by the reigning English Premier League champions for the past four seasons.
The towering 24-year-old striker's previous contract was set to expire in June 2027, but he is now tied to the club until the end of the 2033-2034 season.
Haaland joined Manchester City in 2022 from German club Borussia Dortmund and has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances under Spanish manager Pep Guardiola.
Haaland expressed his delight, saying: "I am really happy to sign my new contract and look forward to spending more time at this great club."
He added: "Manchester City is an exceptional club, full of wonderful people and incredible fans. It’s the kind of environment that brings out the best in everyone."
The club's outgoing Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, who will leave next summer, commented: "Everyone at the club is very pleased that Erling has signed his new contract."
He continued: "His signing of a long-term deal reflects our commitment to him as a player and his love for this club. He has already made an incredible impact during his time here, and his remarkable numbers and records speak for themselves."
