English coach Steven Gerrard is close to leaving his position as head coach of Saudi club Al-Ettifaq following a series of poor results.
Gerrard took charge of Al-Ettifaq at the beginning of last season and managed to achieve some good results at times. However, the team's performance has deteriorated during the current edition of the Roshn Saudi League.
According to media reports, Al-Ettifaq’s management has submitted a request to the Financial Sustainability Committee to terminate Gerrard’s contract. Meanwhile, other reports suggest that the English coach himself is keen to leave.
The club’s management has received official approval from the Financial Sustainability Committee to part ways with Gerrard.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, writing on his official account on the "X" platform: "Steven Gerrard is close to terminating his contract with Al-Ettifaq, and the matter is expected to be finalized soon."
