Eric Garcia Decides to Stay at Barcelona

Some media reports revealed today, Thursday, that Eric Garcia has decided to remain at FC Barcelona, despite attracting interest from several clubs during the January transfer window.

According to British newspaper The Athletic, Garcia was on Barcelona's list of potential departures and had caught the attention of Girona, Real Sociedad, and Como.

The 24-year-old player, who spent last season on loan at Girona, came off the bench on Tuesday to score the equalizer in the 86th minute, helping Barcelona come from behind 4-2 to defeat Benfica 5-4 in the UEFA Champions League.

The report added that coach Hans Flick informed Garcia after his performance against Benfica that he did not want to allow him to leave in January, as he still has an important role to play this season.

Garcia was open to considering offers and had thought about leaving, with a personal preference for Girona in order to get more playing time, but he ultimately decided to stay with the team until the summer.
