Camavinga to Miss Real Madrid Games Due to Injury

French international midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will be sidelined from his team, Real Madrid, currently second in La Liga, due to a thigh tear he suffered during their 5-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Thursday in the Copa del Rey Round of 16.

In a statement on Friday, the reigning European and La Liga champions said, "After the tests conducted today on Eduardo Camavinga, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his left thigh. His recovery will be monitored."

The injury to the 22-year-old midfielder is another blow to the "Royal" club, which is already missing several key players due to injuries, particularly in defense, with Dani Carvajal, Austrian David Alaba, and Brazilian Éder Militão all sidelined.

This marks the third time Camavinga has sustained an injury, following an earlier issue with his right knee at the start of the season and another in his left thigh late last year.

Camavinga’s injury comes at an unfortunate time for Real Madrid, who are currently in 20th place in the Champions League and not yet guaranteed direct qualification to the Round of 16. This is ahead of their crucial match against Austrian club Salzburg on Wednesday in the penultimate round.

The top eight teams advance directly to the Round of 16, while teams ranked ninth to 24th will compete in a playoff to secure their spot. Teams ranked 25th to 32nd will be eliminated from the competition.
