The Argentine Lionel Messi, current star of Inter Miami in the United States and Barcelona legend, revealed that he is always thinking about the day he will be able to return to the city where he spent the majority of his career and live there once again.
Messi will be present at Barcelona's celebration marking the 125th anniversary of the club’s foundation, and it is expected that the Argentine star will play a significant role in the event.
Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 and joined Paris Saint-Germain in France, before moving to the American club. He stated that there are people in the Spanish club's management who do not want him to return, and these are the same people who pushed him out two years ago in a scene that caused "a wound" to both him and his family, a wound that has not healed yet.
In an interview with *RÃ dio Catalunya*, Messi said: "I see Barcelona under Xavi as incredible, and this doesn’t surprise me because this isn’t something new. This is what has always been happening, or at least since I arrived at the age of 13."
He added, "I think it’s amazing that young players have been given opportunities over the past two years. When they are given chances and trust, they respond this way because they know the club better than anyone else. They’ve been used to playing this way since they were kids."
Regarding the possibility of returning to Barcelona, Messi clarified: "We feel like we are from Barcelona, and we always think about the day when we’ll be able to live here again."
