Roma Loses to Brighton Advances to Europa League Quarterfinals


Italian team AS Roma suffered a defeat from their English host Brighton & Hove Albion with a score of 1-0 during the match held on Thursday evening at the American Express Community Stadium, as part of the second leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 16.



The only goal of the match was scored by Danny Welbeck in the 37th minute, allowing Brighton to maintain their lead throughout the remaining minutes until the end.


Despite Roma's loss to Brighton, they have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Europa League. The Italian capital team secured their spot after winning the first leg match held at the Stadio Olimpico with a clean sheet.


Roma joins English clubs Liverpool and West Ham United, German side Bayer Leverkusen, Portuguese team Benfica, Italian clubs Atalanta and Milan, as well as French side Marseille, in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
