German midfielder Toni Kroos is nearing an extension of his prolific career with his Spanish club, Real Madrid, for another season, according to reports on Wednesday.
Kroos has been with Real since 2014, during which time he has won four UEFA Champions League titles along with numerous other championships.
The veteran star, aged 34, reversed his decision to retire from international football and played a significant role in Germany's victories over France and the Netherlands during the recent international matches, gearing up for the upcoming UEFA European Championship to be held in Germany this summer.
Kroos, a 2014 FIFA World Cup winner with the German national team, remains a vital component in the squad under Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti. Spanish sports newspapers Marca and AS have revealed that it is planned for him to renew his contract with the white team until 2025.
Real Madrid waited until last June to announce Kroos's contract extension for the current season. The newspapers suggest a similar timeline for this season's renewal, with AS quoting the player last weekend saying that the contract will be renewed within the next two months.
