New setback delays Courtois's return to Real Madrid

Belgian international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois's return to Real Madrid has been further postponed after he suffered a minor tear in the ligaments of his right knee.

Courtois, 31, has been absent from most of this season's competitions after tearing the cruciate ligament in his knee last August.

Courtois is expected to be sidelined for about six weeks, depriving him of participation with the Belgian national team in the upcoming friendly matches against Ireland and England in the coming days. He may also miss the first and second leg matches of the Champions League quarter-finals against English side Manchester City.

Real Madrid stated in a statement on their official website on Tuesday: "Thibaut Courtois has been diagnosed with a minor tear in the ligaments of his right knee, the injury occurred during today's training."
