President El-Sisi: Libya’s Stability Is Inseparable from Egypt’s Security

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has emphasized the importance of preserving Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for unified efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement that paves the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible. Such a step, he said, would fulfill the Libyan people’s aspirations for stability, security, and a dignified life.

The president made these remarks during his meeting on Monday with Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives. The meeting was attended by Hamid Al-Safi, political advisor to the Speaker, and General Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service.

According to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the meeting focused on the latest developments in Libya. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance in support of Libya and its national institutions.

Egyptian Commitment

President El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s commitment to continue working and coordinating with all Libyan brothers and relevant international parties, based on Egypt’s belief in the need for stability in the neighboring country. He stated: “Libya’s political and security stability is an integral part of Egypt’s own stability.”

He also underscored the importance of the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Libyan territory, a step essential to strengthening security and enabling Libyan institutions to carry out their role in restoring stability across the country.

President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s keen interest in contributing to Libya’s reconstruction process and transferring Egyptian developmental expertise to support the country’s progress.

Libyan Appreciation for Egypt’s Role

For his part, Speaker Aguila Saleh expressed deep appreciation for the historic and brotherly ties between Libya and Egypt, praising President El-Sisi’s leadership and the role of Egyptian institutions in supporting Libya’s unity and institutional cohesion.

He emphasized that Egypt’s support remains a cornerstone in the effort to restore security and stability, and to steer the transitional phase toward the implementation of upcoming electoral entitlements.
