Tottenham Terminates Young Striker Scarlett's Loan to Cover Solanke's Absence

The English club Tottenham has decided to terminate the loan of its striker Dane Scarlett to Oxford following Dominic Solanke’s knee injury.

Scarlett, a member of England’s U21 national team, scored four goals in 20 Championship matches.

Tottenham's Australian coach Ange Postecoglou stated that Solanke, who joined the team in a record deal, will be sidelined for several weeks due to a knee injury that kept him out of Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Scarlett, who joined Oxford on a season-long loan last August, has started only seven matches this season.

Scarlett became the youngest player in Tottenham’s history when former Portuguese coach José Mourinho fielded him in a 4-0 win against Ludogorets in the UEFA Champions League on November 20, 2020, at the age of 16 years and 247 days, according to British news agency PA Media.

Now 20 years old, Scarlett has made 17 appearances for Tottenham's first team, with his Premier League debut as a substitute in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in February 2021.

Scarlett spent the 2022/2023 season on loan at Portsmouth and part of the last season on loan at Ipswich.
