French club Nice, which includes Egyptian international defender Mohamed Abdelmonem in its ranks, announced on Wednesday the signing of Stade Rennais player Baptiste SantamarÃa on loan until the end of the current 2024–2025 season, with an option to buy.
In a statement on its website, the club wrote: "Baptiste SantamarÃa (29 years old) is a new player for Nice. The midfielder arrives from Stade Rennais on loan with an option to buy."
In related remarks, the 29-year-old player said: "I feel ready and in good shape. I can't wait to play. I know the club is very ambitious. It has performed excellently this season and faces big challenges ahead. It’s an honor to be part of this adventure."
The club also confirmed in its statement that SantamarÃa could make his debut for Nice next Sunday in their match against Marseille.
Nice currently occupies fifth place in the French league standings with 30 points after 18 rounds, securing 8 wins, 6 draws, and 4 losses.
