Mohammed bin Salman Congratulates Lebanon's New President by Phone and Invites Him to Visit Saudi Arabia


Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made a phone call on Saturday to Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun, congratulating him on his election as the President of Lebanon and inviting him to visit Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).



The Saudi agency reported: "His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, made a phone call to His Excellency President Joseph Aoun, conveying the congratulations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Highness’ own congratulations on the occasion of his election and taking the constitutional oath as President of the Republic of Lebanon."


During the call, Mohammed bin Salman expressed "sincere congratulations and best wishes of success to the Lebanese President and hoped for further progress and prosperity for the brotherly Lebanese people."


The Crown Prince also extended an invitation to Lebanon's new president to visit Saudi Arabia.


For his part, President Joseph Aoun expressed "his gratitude and appreciation to the Crown Prince for Saudi Arabia’s supportive stances toward Lebanon and its people, as well as for the invitation to visit the Kingdom," according to SPA.


The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) stated that the phone call between the Saudi Crown Prince and Aoun "addressed the latest developments and ways to enhance the unique and historic relationship between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon."


According to the Lebanese agency, President Joseph Aoun emphasized that "Saudi Arabia will be his first destination on his foreign visits, in response to the Saudi Crown Prince’s invitation and out of recognition of the Kingdom’s historic role in supporting Lebanon, reaffirming Lebanon’s Arab identity as the foundation of its relations with its regional neighbors."
