Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, said that midfielder Declan Rice has returned to his best form and is now more capable of contributing offensively.
Rice scored the first goal in his team's 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.
Rice scored his first-ever Champions League goal within two minutes, paving the way for a routine win against the Croatian side, which nearly confirmed Arsenal's place in the round of 16 of the competition.
Arteta spoke about the England international in comments reported by Reuters: "Declan Rice has the ability to drive the ball forward in attacking positions, and he could have scored twice. In recent weeks, he has had some big chances to score and impact the game, so overall, I'm really happy because we need to make an impact from those positions, and he's definitely capable of doing that."
He added: "He has played a lot of football in the last two years, and in addition, we have moved him from one position to another. The good thing with Declan is that he's extremely consistent and reliable."
He continued: "He's always there, and when he creates those sparks, those moments in the opponent's penalty area, it's fantastic. Even though Rice is a key player in his team's ambitions, his level needs to be consistently high."
He concluded: "Everyone has to be ready, and he's no different. You can see that when he's fresher and in the condition he's in, he's a big player for us."
