Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal Football Club, emphasized that the competition for the Premier League title is not limited to just Arsenal and Liverpool.
The British news agency (PA Media) reported that Arsenal is now only four points behind Liverpool, who are leading the league table, following Arsenal's thrilling 2-1 victory over Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium last Wednesday.
Chelsea trails by 10 points after a series of poor results, while Manchester City is 12 points behind, despite having played one more game than Liverpool.
However, with Nottingham Forest, who drew with Liverpool last Tuesday, sitting in third place just three points ahead of Newcastle in fourth, Arteta does not believe that the title race is confined to Liverpool and Arsenal.
When asked whether the title race has become a direct competition between Liverpool and Arsenal, Arteta said, "I don’t think so."
He added, "When you look at every Premier League match, the margins, and how teams win football games, it can go in any direction."
He continued, "In two or three weeks, we could be talking about something completely different. We’re still in January, so there’s a long way to go."
Arsenal will host Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday after their victory over Tottenham, a win that has renewed their hopes of securing their first league title in 20 years.
