Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, met with a number of military leaders at the Strategic Command headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was attended by General Abdel Meguid Saker, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, and General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, along with the heads of the main branches of the military.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the developments on both the regional and international fronts and their impact on security and stability in the Middle East. He added that President Sisi praised the efforts of the Armed Forces in protecting Egypt’s borders from potential threats.
President Sisi emphasized that the ongoing events and the unstable conditions in the region affirm that Egypt's choice for a just and sustainable peace requires continuing to build the comprehensive capabilities needed to protect and safeguard the nation, while also sustaining efforts for the country's overall development to fulfill the aspirations of the Egyptian people for a better future.
The meeting also covered the Armed Forces' efforts in securing all strategic directions of the country and their readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them.
President Sisi said, "The truth is, I am following all the activities and feel reassured. But I want to clarify an important point: the Armed Forces have always been the cornerstone of stability in Egypt. As you can see, the region is very unstable and going through difficult events, and Egypt has been a key element of stability over the past years, and, God willing, will continue to play this role in the coming years through a balanced policy characterized by moderation and patience in facing the ongoing events and developments. As you see on all three strategic fronts—west, south, and even east—our balanced management has contributed significantly to maintaining stability."
In this context, President Sisi added, "This is not just my statement, by the way; this is not just motivational speech for you. No, this is what the whole world knows now... The whole world today recognizes that Egypt, with its balance and stability, despite the tough circumstances it is going through, is a major factor in this stability."
President Sisi also noted that in every meeting with the Armed Forces, he meets with mid-level leaders, who represent hope and the future. In this particular meeting, he decided to have a larger group present to hear their views on the ongoing events. He stressed that as military personnel, people may assume that the focus is only on training and military capabilities, affirming that while this is a primary mission for the Armed Forces, it does not mean that they are isolated from what is happening around them, whether inside the country or outside.
The President highlighted the significant balance the Armed Forces maintain in managing their affairs and understanding the political and security realities both within the country and abroad, which is a key factor for stability.
President Sisi also requested that the commanders of the brigades and divisions convey his greetings and regards to all of his fellow soldiers in the Armed Forces, saying: "I tell them to always stay alert and continue working, training, and being prepared to maintain your competence and readiness, because Egypt's security and safety are a trust upon all of us, and of course, upon you as the first line of defense. May God protect us and protect you from all harm and evil."
