Suspension of Argentine Player Gomez for Two Years Due to Doping

Italian Serie A football club, Monza, announced on Friday the suspension of their Argentine forward, Pablo Gomez, for a period of two years, citing doping allegations, according to Reuters agency.

Gomez, 35 years old, who joined Monza on a free transfer after leaving Spanish club Sevilla at the end of last September, was part of the Argentine squad that won the World Cup last year.

The Italian club stated in a press release: "Monza announces that FIFA has informed the Spanish Anti-Doping Committee of the initial judgment against the player Alejandro Dario Gomez."

The club further added that the player failed a doping test conducted in October 2022 while he was a player at Sevilla, after the substance Terbutaline, which aids in treating respiratory system crises, was detected in his sample.
