Apple Plans to Launch a New Version of AirPods Max

Apple is set to release a new version of its wireless over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max, in 2024, according to a report published by the American agency Bloomberg.

The planned upgrades include the addition of a USB-C port for charging and new color options. Although Apple currently has no intentions of making extensive upgrades to the headphone, this may change in the future.

The aim of this upgrade is to comply with European Union regulations that require companies to include a USB-C port in their products and accessories.

This move mirrors what Apple did with the second-generation AirPods Pro earbuds in September of last year, where a USB-C port was added without any changes to the internal components.

Since Apple unveiled the AirPods Max at the end of 2020, the company has not introduced any further updates to them, while the earbud-style AirPods have seen numerous hardware and software upgrades. The upcoming release of the AirPods Max may be less advanced than expected, potentially lacking the latest H2 processor or the U1 chip, which could mean missing out on some important features available in other recent Apple headphone models.

The price of the AirPods Max reaches up to $550 USD.
