Microsoft will permanently remove the Cortana application from Windows 10 and 11 operating systems later this year.

However, they clarified that this decision only affects the Cortana version for desktop devices, as the assistant will continue to be available in mobile versions of Teams, Outlook, as well as in Microsoft Teams Rooms and Displays.

To facilitate the transition to alternative options, Microsoft lists some alternatives that can be used instead of Cortana. One of them is Voice Access in Windows 11, which allows you to control the computer and type using your voice only, with commands to open and switch between applications, browse the internet, and compose emails. This feature does not require an internet connection.

Additionally, Microsoft mentions other recent products that utilize the company's artificial intelligence. On the other hand, there's Bing, powered by ChatGPT, which enhances search capabilities and responsiveness in Microsoft's search engine. Furthermore, there's Microsoft 365 Copilot, designed for the company's productivity platform, and Windows Copilot, built into the Windows 11 operating system.

With these advancements in artificial intelligence, Microsoft aims to provide alternative and improved options for users to perform tasks and access productivity tools in Windows 11, despite removing Cortana's standalone application support.
